October 2003--The YMCA of Greater Rochester recently broke ground in Gates, home to the new West Side Family YMCA branch. Passero Associates, the engineering and architectural firm hired to head the design of both the Gates and Penfield branches watched proudly as the “golden” shovels turned over new ground. “We are so honored to have been selected to assist in the design of these two state-of-the-art facilities.” said the architectural manager of Passero Associates. "The YMCA continues to listen to the needs of its members and serves its community by growing and expanding, meeting the needs of families of all ages. We are so pleased to help be a part of that." The west side YMCA is scheduled to be completed in time for an October 2004 opening date.
