Passero Associates is pleased to share that AIA Rochester has selected Peter Wehner, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, for its annual Medal of Distinction. Peter serves on Passero’s Board of Directors as Vice President and Director of Architecture.

This award is the highest honor that American Institute of Architects (AIA) Rochester can confer on one of its members. Established in 2003, this award was put in place to honor architects who have had substantial influence in shaping and advancing architecture in the greater Rochester, New York area. The Medal of Distinction is meant to celebrate a lifetime of achievement in architecture including service to the profession, the chapter and the community.

Peter is committed to the advancement of the profession of architecture through the professional stewardship of young architects, technological innovation, creating exceptional teams, and community involvement.

He has been an active member of the American Institute of Architects since 1986 and is the current Executive Secretary on the Board of Directors for AIA New York State. He is involved in AIA programs, has promoted AIA membership to his staff, and has fostered and encouraged their extensive involvement and participation.

Developing the next generation of architects is a primary focus for Peter. Working as an adjunct professor in the Master of Architecture Department at Rochester Institute of Technology, a program that he helped to develop, Peter both mentors and learns from his students. He regularly makes time to assist young architects in their careers.

An advocate for technological progression in architecture, Peter has promoted and implemented many high-tech initiatives that have enabled Passero architects to fully present their vision to their clients, increasing project understanding and reducing costs.

Peter’s projects have been recognized with numerous awards, including at the National, State, and Local levels. Each project requires the best team, and Peter fosters a cooperative team environment that enables each of its members to contribute and excel in their respective disciplines.

Committed to giving back to the communities in which he lives and works, Peter has an extensive record of significant community service, and is a current Councilman for the Town of Irondequoit. Through his many years of community service, he has developed relationships with and learned from the people who will ultimately use his projects.

Congratulations to Peter on this recognition of a lifetime of service and achievement in architecture, and for his continuing commitment to Passero Associates, our staff and clients.
