This addition and renovation is revitalizing the Town’s historic library. The project included a complete renovation of the existing building and an addition to the rear. The entire project is 9,500 SF. The addition houses additional space for books and meeting rooms, and solves handicapped and other accessibility problems with the existing building. This is an addition to a historic building on a sloped urban site. Challenges included a significant groundwater problem, and creating accessible spaces on two stories. Additional challenges included blending the new addition into the existing building, while complementing with the existing building’s architecture.
Passero provided interior design services for this project, including professional assessment, planning, and completion of a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing interior space. Passero developed and implemented a comprehensive design that incorporated the desired style and purpose of the space, while integrating ergonomics, sustainability, and accessibility.
