This project involved a comprehensive upgrade to unproductive, under-utilized aircraft hangars, including basic infrastructure upgrades and building system replacements to Hangars 3 and 9 so that they could be fully utilized for aircraft maintenance by the current tenant (HAECO). The staff training building was expanded from one classroom to two.
52,000 SF of the original 66,000 SF was upgraded with new 12” thick concrete slab and new sliding door tracks. Lighting upgrades included installation of 72 high output halide lamps light fixtures with sensor controls. Fire suppression was upgraded by converting to heat detection systems with valve changes by replacing new deluge valves with electric actuation by thermo-cable linear heat detection cable.
Passero staff created the conceptual design, Design-Build Criteria Package, managed the grants administration and project inspection phases of the work.
The City (and County) successfully partnered to apply for a “Total Project Participation Grant” from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity “Rural Infrastructure Fund” to fund the Hangar upgrades, and support significant job creation at Lake City Gateway Airport.
