The airport master plan’s major focus areas include airfield geometry issues within a site that is constrained by residential development and local / interstate highways. Also, the air carrier terminal apron and Taxiway A are constrained at a time when air service is growing.

The Master Plan considers the future aircraft fleet changes that will place a hardship on the existing terminal apron and terminal building. The existing terminal building is constrained at TSA, holdrooms and circulation areas. Ground access around the airport is also constrained. Additional connections to I-89 north and south are considered as part of the development plan.

A sustainability brochure and economic impact assessment were prepared as part of the Master Plan. A comprehensive financial plan will be developed to support the Master Plan recommendations.

The Master Plan includes an active public involvement process, working closely with users of the airport, including the Vermont Air National Guard, a major tenant of the airport, and constituents from surrounding communities and the public.

Results: Identified terminal needs in Master Plan are being addressed through current design efforts to improve the customer experience. BETA technologies expanding their facilities into areas identified within the Master Plan.
