MCC Downtown Campus Renovation

Total Cost

$78 Million

Description

Monroe Community College purchased a 7-story building on Kodak’s State Street complex to renovate into their new Downtown campus. The new campus includes classrooms, lecture halls, labs, cafeteria, offices, a Green roof and new technology to allow students to achieve a first-class education. Passero Associates (PA) designed the site utilities, drainage, parking lot and access controls, lighting and landscaping. Working on a 7-story building in a congested downtown area while not disrupting operations to adjoining building owners and motorists was challenging from a constructability standpoint. Passero Associates designed complex, multi-phased work zone traffic control plans (WZTC) to allow crane setups for equipment lifts and exterior façade work. Our WZTC plans detailed traffic detours, signage and pavement markings. PA was responsible for obtaining approvals from the City and MCDOT.
