New Rochelle Central School - Staircase Emergency Repair Project

The New Rochelle Staircase project was determined to be an emergency repair project due to the staircase being a primary egress exit for a portion of the school. Passero structural and civil engineers assessed the staircase and determined that, due to it’s deteriorated nature, ongoing settlement and underslab drainage issues, that the egress stair and walkway were not safe to be used by the building occupants. Passero engineers provided assessment letters to assist the school district in declaring the project an emergency repair project which allowed the district to repair the stair and walkway in an expedient manner. Passero engineers provided final reconstruction documents to replace the elevated walkway and staircase, along with adjoining sidewalks, retaining structures, and mechanical plenum beneath the elevated walkway.
