Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Structural Repair

Passero Associates was retained to assess and investigate bulging historic brick masonry and precast concrete decorative cornices. Based on the visual clues found in the field by our structural team, it was thought that steel supports were likely behind this masonry and corrosion of the steel was likely the cause of the masonry movement. Masonry removal commenced shortly thereafter and severely corroded steel support members were discovered. Repairs to the existing steel support members were recommended so as to reinforce the existing masonry facade and extend its service life.
