Description

This building, the former Carnegie Library, is on the registry of National Historic Places, requiring SHPO and local historic review. Passero Associates designed the building for a change of use from a library to a modern, technologically advanced Culinary Institute. Creating effective ventilation and building functions while keeping the historic character of the building required innovative design and construction methods.

This building creates an important downtown presence for the College and contributes to the renaissance of downtown Binghamton.

Passero provided interior design services for this project, including professional assessment, planning, and completion of a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing interior space. Passero developed and implemented a comprehensive design that incorporated the desired style and purpose of the space, while integrating ergonomics, sustainability, and accessibility.
