Description

Passero Associates was retained to prepare an environmental assessment, preliminary design and final design for the extension of Taxiway H at ROC. This new construction allows cargo aircraft on the southeast side of the field to access Runway 4 without crossing any other runways. The new taxiway traverses the glideslope critical area of the Runway 28 ILS. An environmental assessment was completed for this project including alternatives for the alignment and existing glideslope array disposition. Ultimately, the glideslope array will remain, and the design will accommodate glideslope critical area grading on balance with taxiway grading standards. A FONSI was issued. Conceptual and preliminary design drawings were prepared for review and analysis by the FAA Engineering Group. FAA Engineer Group comments resulted in design tweaks until an acceptable profile and grading scheme emerged.
