Description

This project was funded by FAA AIP grants (in multiple phases over the last 6 years) and was designed and constructed in accordance with current FAA Advisory Circulars. This included coordination with the FAA ADO and the City’s DBE/MBE requirements during the design and bidding phase. As the terminal ramp must remain open throughout construction, the Construction Safety Phasing Plans are critical to ensure the airport remains partially operational.

Coordination with the airlines was also crucial to ensure passenger disruption was kept to a minimum and there was no lost revenue. These projects consisted of the removal and replacement of nearly 140,000 square yards of existing concrete pavement, nearly 30 acres of concrete. This work was completed directly adjacent to the concourses of the terminal building of the Dayton International Airport. Seven airlines were required to temporarily relocate internally and externally within the terminal. This coordination and scheduling was provided by Passero Associates on behalf of the City of Dayton Department of Aviation.
