Passero staff provided architectural design for the General Aviation Administration and Flight Services Facility adjacent to the existing aircraft parking apron. The architectural design, as desired by Valkaria Airport staff, is one that would be reminiscent and celebrate flight. The proposed GA Terminal Building is a 6,273 SF gross building area (one story) with a 2,953 SF rooftop observation deck. The building features a V-shaped porte-cochere entry canopy that leads to a full story lobby, with mezzanine designed to display two aircraft suspended from the ceiling, the Mitchell Wing B-10 and Bede BD-5J. A third aircraft (the Quickie Q1) will be attached to the ceiling above upside down in a Multi-Purpose room which has a folding glass wall system that opens to the existing aircraft parking apron. The building is designed for 162 MPH wind loads, as a critical structure. The budget also included performance specifications for a 20 unit T-Hangar with a bulk Hangar on each end.
