Town of Sweden Speed Limit Setting Study

Passero Associates worked with the Town of Sweden on an areawide speed limit setting project in response to New York State’s updated posted speed limit law (August 2022). Passero evaluated the area’s vehicle speeds over the course of several days using radar technology. The neighborhood is all residential and is currently posted 30 mph. Passero reviewed current vehicle speeds, performed industry-accepted evaluations using USLIMITS2 and NCHRP Report 966, and offered recommendations to achieve a feasible posted speed limit of 25 mph.
